Welcome to the knowledge revolution
The world of Juxtareum is the world of knowledge applications
A knowledge application is any application that enables the viewing, organizing, sorting, filtering, storing, sharing, or communicating of knowledge.
Right under our noses, our intellectual lives has come to be dominated by knowledge applications.
Knowledge applications are incredibly useful - so useful that they've given rise to a multi-trillion dollar industry.
But that industry has in turn given rise to a host of new and serious problems - problems for each of us individually, but also for society as a whole.
The so-called Big Tech companies have allowed us to build information cities on their land, with their equipment.
We get lots of benefits from working and playing in their cities, but we also pay a steep price for those benefits.
Although we create all that knowledge, they control it. They make the rules, they call the shots - arbitrarily, opaquely, and ultimately in their own best interest, not ours. They have become our information overlords.
And now we're trapped. We're at their mercy.
What if we could get all of the benefits of these knowledge applications - and much more - without handing control over our digital lives to a handful of unaccountable conglomerates?
Welcome to Juxtareum!
Juxtareum is a decentralized platform for knowledge applications. Every knowledge application that you know and love, and countless groundbreaking new ones, will be built and deployed on Juxtareum.
And best of all, Juxtareum will belong to all of us - every user, every application developer, every knowledge creator, every stakeholder of every kind - not to some centralized, self-serving behemoth.
It's time to decentralize - to democratize - knowledge applications.
Information is trapped in individual silos controlled by individual knowledge applications, which are in turn controlled by a handful of companies. Exporting information from knowledge applications or importing it into another one is generally complex, cumbersome, and severely limited - and also loses any surrounding context, like the full discussions in which comments appear.
Juxtareum provides a unified information base that contains all information created in all knowledge applications. That means that you can use and reuse all of that information in any way that you want, no matter where it was originally created.
You can pull any existing information, created in any knowledge application, into your blogs, blog posts, comments, etc., with its original attribution and context automatically and completely retained. You'll have a huge corpus of knowledge at your fingertips, and a huge collection of knowledge applications to bring to bear on that knowledge.
The user base of each knowledge application (or maybe a small group of them) generally has its own sign-up rules and procedures, its own user credentials, its own everything. Meanwhile, your identity, your usage history, your preferences, your reputation, and so on are all completely separate across these silos.
This is cumbersome at best, and a security and usability nightmare at worst.
Juxtareum provides a unified user base, with unified procedures, unified credentials, unified everything. Users have a single identity across the whole system, no matter which knowledge application they're using or what information they're accessing.
So as a single user, without having to join an array of applications, creating multiple personas and managing multiple passwords, you can subscribe to a blog in a blogging application, buy a book in a bookstore application, and make comments in a discussion application.
Information is generally tightly coupled with presentation: when we access the information in a particular knowledge application's server, we're forced to use the clients - and thus the functionality and presentation - that the owner of that application provides.
So we're forced to learn and use different functionality and a different user interface for every knowledge application, and forget about using the client of one application to access the information in another. And even in rare cases in which an application owner allows third-party clients to access the information on their server, those clients are ultimately at the mercy of the application owners - and they have a long history of subsequently changing, limiting, or even eliminating that access.
Juxtareum is an open platform for any functionality and any interface to its knowledge base. In Juxtareum, knowledge application services can be created by anyone, and they're accessible by any knowledge application client.
So new services that access the underlying knowledge base can be created at any time - and so can new clients that access any of those services.
Every knowledge application has its own unique mechanisms for allowing its users to control who can see their content, and those mechanisms are often extremely limited - when they're available at all.
For any content that you create - a comment, an essay, a blog, a book, or anything else no matter how big or small - you can control who can see it: just you, a specific group of users, or all users.
And you can even specify a price that users have to pay to see your content - so you can immediately put anything you create on sale to the entire user base.
Every knowledge application has its own unique mechanisms for allowing its users to collaborate on content, and those mechanisms are often extremely limited - when they're available at all.
Any user can create groups that can work together in creating content. These groups can be any size, and can operate under any arbitrary rules and dynamics.
And those groups can do anything that individual users can do - create any type of content, control who can see it, put it on sale, and so on.
Every knowledge application has its own unique mechanisms for allowing its users to collaborate on content, and those mechanisms are often extremely limited - or not available at all.
Meanwhile, the rules, terms, etc. are often opaque and subject to arbitrary changes - and you're forced to trust the proprietor to accurately track and execute payments.
As a blockchain, Juxtareum has a unified vehicle for payments: the cryptocurrency Juxtacoin.
Juxtacoin can be transferred from user to user, can be used to pay for services, and can be used to reward participants in the system. Juxtacoin is free from control, influence, intervention, and weaponization by authoritarians.
Handling huge volumes of data and supporting large groups of users is very difficult. Hardware infrastructure, storage, indexing, search and retrieval, privacy protection, access control enforcement, payment logistics, data security - the list goes on and on.
It's almost impossible for individuals and even companies to create innovative knowledge applications that can support mass adoption, leaving Big Tech with a near-monopoly, and resulting in lock-in and stagnation.
Juxtareum takes care of all the heavy lifting involved in allowing knowledge applications, managing an arbitrarily large knowledge base and supporting an arbitrarily large number of users, so developers can focus on the unique core functionality of their applications.
The result: knowledge applications can be created and improved at incredible speeds and with drastically less effort. It will be trivially easy to recreate the basic functionality of existing knowledge apps, and these will be quickly implemented and improved upon.
Even better, a huge variety of knowledge applications paving new frontiers in education, communication, collaboration, etc will be built and deployed. And best of all, developers will be able to easily cooperate and collaborate, giving rise to an explosion of experimentation and innovation - a revolution in the world of knowledge applications.
Information, participation, and communication are all tightly controlled by corporate interests and their allies in government. Information is silently, opaquely filtered ("shadow-banned"), prioritized for viewing in arbitrary and self-serving ways, or removed outright.
Accounts are deleted with vague, arbitrary excuses (if that), sometimes making years of user labor disappear. Our ability to communicate, associate, and collaborate has been hijacked.
In Juxtareum, you can say whatever you want, to whomever you want, and you can see whatever you want, from whomever you want.
We decide what to say and what to see - not Big Tech, not Big Media, not Big Government. You can't be censored, and you can't be canceled.
Knowledge applications often require personally identifying information. They watch everything we say and do in their systems (and sometimes outside of them too). They end up knowing us better than our friends and relatives do.
All of that information is vulnerable to attacks: we're given hollow assurances, but leaks - both intentional and accidental - are practically a daily occurrence. All of that information is made available to whomever they see fit, including the corrupt governments in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
In Juxtareum, users are anonymous and data is private - by design.
The end result of all this?
A utopia of knowledge application development.
A utopia of knowledge application use.
Here's our chance to get off this road to a new Dark Ages, and set out on a path to a new Age of Enlightenment.
Here's our chance to finally use the power of the blockchain to bolster democracy, foster education, and raise the level of social discourse.
We can make Juxtareum the global standard for knowledge application development and use.
We can look back at the current era of Big Tech the way we now look back at the ages of feudalism and the robber barons.
The options are stark. The choice is clear.
We will soon create a foundation - the Juxtareum Foundation - to act as the formal representative of the project and the executor of its top-level activities.
The Juxtareum Foundation will initially be responsible for all activities of the Juxtareum project leading up to the official launch.
This will all culminate in the launch of the official Juxtareum blockchain network - the mainnet.
In conjunction with the Juxtareum mainnet launch, the Juxtareum Foundation will establish a decentralized autonomous organization - the Juxtareum DAO - to give all Juxtareum stakeholders a central role in the governance of the project.
The members of the Juxtareum DAO will discuss, debate, and collaboratively decide on all important matters related to the Juxtareum ecosystem, and will have direct, automated control over Juxtareum treasury funds with which to implement those decisions.
The Juxtareum Foundation and Juxtareum DAO will then work in tandem to foster a flourishing, thriving ecosystem around Juxtareum.
Juxtacoin is the official cryptocurrency of Juxtareum blockchain - and the lifeblood of the Juxtareum ecosystem.
